This is a comprehensive list of everything I use in the intermediate course. Below, you’ll see what’s essential and what’s optional.
Brush, Chalk, & Charcoal: Framing Your World
Essential:
Paint (scroll down to see my favorites).
You can make most colors with Phthalo Blue (Green Shade), Hansa Yellow Light and Quinacridone Pink. A split primary assortment is great, too. Go here to see some helpful information about tube paint and to get other paint suggestions from me.
Paint Palette (indoor use)
Paper Towels
Water
Watercolor Paper OR Cardstock (a budget-friendly option instead of watercolor paper)
Picture Plane (or photo mat, window, etc.)
Wet Erase, Dry Erase Marker or Chalk Pen
Old Sock or Discarded Cloth
Chalk, Vine (or Compressed) Charcoal, Oil Pastel
Various Models: Houseplants, Fruit, Common Objects, Pets, etc.
Optional:
Different sizes of Round Brushes
Foam core Brush Screen for contrast behind plant specimen, which is the same dimensions as your paper (see tutorial)
Baby Wipes (to clean off palettes, hands, and working space)
Travel Palette (Sand Paper to scratch the wells before filling with paint.)
